Can you X-ray the whole body?
It is possible to examine large parts of the body with various diagnostic imaging methods, but the expression "whole body X-ray" is often misleading. Regular X-rays are mainly used for specific issues, such as skeletal injuries or certain lung examinations.
When people search for a full body MRI, they often mean a broad examination where multiple organs and body parts are examined. In that context, a full body MRI is a more accurate term.
At Prevcare you can book a full-body MRI privately without a referral.
Full body MRI or regular X-ray?
MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of the body's internal structures. Regular X-rays use ionizing radiation and are suitable for other types of questions.
When examining a wide range of organs and soft tissues, MRI is often more relevant than conventional X-rays. MRI can provide clearer information about many soft tissue structures, abdominal organs, and other internal changes.
Which method is right depends on what is being examined. Therefore, it is important to distinguish between regular X-rays, computed tomography and MRI.
What is included in a full-body MRI?
Full body MRI at Prevcare covers 21 organs and body parts. The examination includes radiological examination, written report and review with a specialist doctor.
If the results show something that needs to be followed up, a referral can be issued after medical assessment.
- 21 organs and body parts.
- Magnetic resonance imaging without ionizing radiation.
- Radiological report.
- Review with a specialist doctor.
- Referral if necessary.
What can the survey show?
MRI can show changes in organs, tissues, bones and soft tissues. These may include cysts, inflammation, lymph node changes, vascular changes or other findings that need further assessment.
Not all findings indicate serious illness. Some changes are benign, others need to be followed over time or investigated with a more targeted examination.
